Disposal of industrial wastes is a major problem in many industries which causes environmental hazards. Recycling of industrial wastes is a way of disposal and, in the same time, it is a way of resource management. Cement by-pass is one of the major byproducts of cement industry which accumulates daily in huge amounts (about 150 ton/day in Assiut). If this byproduct is not wisely used or even safely disposed, it will become a pollutant for the environment. This by-pass is very fine powdery, dusty and gray in colour. It contains significant levels of calcium, iron, silicon and aluminum oxides. Oxides of Mn, Cu, Zn and some other heavy metals are also present but in small amounts (Assiut Cement Company). Cement Manufacture Plants in Egypt approximately discard annually one million tons of cement dust that is collected from exhausted gases of cement kilns. It contains excessive concentrations of alkalis which make it unsuitable to return to the cement making process. In addition, these amounts of cement dust result in serious impairment of air quality particularly in densely populated areas in the vicinity of these plants (Elwan and El-Didamony, 2002).
