The present book is a study of the feminine characters in Virginia Woolf's "The Waves" and "Mrs. Dalloway". The choice of these two novels is based on the fact that they clarify Virginia Woolf's feminist position. The study proposed three research questions which revolve around the different theories of characterization and the different manifestations of feminine characters in "The Waves" and "Mrs. Dalloway". To try to answer the research questions, the study made recourse to textual analysis and Shlomith Rimmon -Kenan's method of character-analysis. The study concluded that the characters are presented approximately in the same way in both "Mrs Dalloway" and "The Waves". The study concluded also that both "The Waves" and "Mrs Dalloway" make an exposition of different kinds of women. But, the common feature of the female characters in both works is their suffering and their failure to find a meaning to their life. These two works try also to give a great importance to women who are active and who can change the world if they are given a chance. These two novels agree on the point that women are creative, sensitive, romantic. They tend as much as they can towards harmony.
