Plane frames with infill walls are in the form of beams and columns assembly and they have presence of infill masonry panels. The conventional analyses of such frames require that there is intimate contact between the periphery of the masonry panels and the surrounding concrete surfaces of beams and columns. So long as the vertical load arising from self weight of structure and other superimposed loads are concerned, the analysis is quite straight forward, hence the phenomenon of interaction do not play an active role. However in case the structure is subjected to horizontal forces arising from the Agencies such as wind load, seismic forces, blast loading, etc. It would be incorrect to assume the intimate contact between the periphery of the masonry panels and the surrounding In case of multistoried RCC buildings plane RCC frames constitute most important load bearing component surfaces of RCC beams and columns. This is because now the phenomenon of interaction between the masonry panel and component of RCC frame would govern analysis. The plane stress finite element analysis of such interacting system is required to derive the realistic structural response.
